Morning all, if La Estrella wins Southwells 1.50 this afternoon, he will be 6 wins from 7 visits to the Nottinghamshire track. The non winning visit was when he unseated rider in a handicap chase when holding every chance two from home. A typical Fibresand lover and I wouldn't bet against him winning another today.
Back to yesterdays action, not the greatest day for myself in terms of my selections with Finlay, Primrose Time, Wrecking Crew and John Potts all falling close but not close enough. The ride of the day was not a stand out but more of a clever ride from Andrea Atzeni on board Erinjay in the 4.00 at Wolves yesterday. He didn't get first run on long time leader I Confess but after coming wide, shook his mount up to go narrowly in front abouut 1/2 a furlong out and then rode hands and heels to the line. Erinjay is a fast improving type from the Michael Wigham stable who definately needs following in the next few weeks. Todays selections are Dancing Partner (1.40 Wetherby) P/U, Ebanour (5.00 Wetherby) WON, Kummel Excess (2.50 Southwell), Celtic Ballad (3.05 Taunton), E Street Boy (4.45 Taunton and Just Amazing (4.15 Taunton).
Finally, I feel that Celtic Ballad is the best price of those in its first chase straight in a handicap. Talking of first runs in a handicap, E Street Boy for the Pipe yard is up in distance for its first handicap hurdle run and has to be well fancied.
