Yesterday capped off a magnificant week for Conor O'Farrell, when he scored in the Midlands Grand National aboard Minella Four Star. Our only winner in the selections was Best Prospect (15/8F), who just prevailed. He also earned his jockey, Barry Keniry, Ride of the day for that performance on this temperamental gelding, who waited and waited as long as possible to get his head in front, which he did in the last 4 or 5 strides. racingpost.com has the closing stages, by clicking on Racing Post Television on the Media centre and clicking on Saturday review.
Today provides the start of the Irish Flat Turf season, these are my selections everywhere: Victor's Serenade (3.00 Carlisle), Alvarado (3.30 Carlisle), Topolski (2.15 Newton Abbot), Accordingtoeileen e/w (3.15 Newton Abbot), Fin Vin De Leu (3.45 Newton Abbot), Cruise Control (4.15 Newton Abbot), Qualitee e/w (4.45 Newton Abbot), Photo Oppurtunity (4.35 Curragh)
Victor's Serenade could easily start us off with a winner, Alvarado has official ratings and ground on side, Topolski should like the tight track after a win on the Flat at Chester, Accordingtoeileen could go well from the front, Fin Vin De Leu is the most solid selection out of the four in the 3.45, Cruise Control got there to soon last time and has Timmy Murphy on this time, Qualitee who is up in trip on handicap debut for in-form yard and Photo Oppurtunity is unexposed for a stable who does notouriously well in the early season
Also, I have a couple of ante-post selections for the Lincoln at big prices. Axiom, who has moved to Ed Walker from Luca Cumani and has strong claims on his best form, is a general 33/1 shot. Fremont is the other one, who is trained by Richard Hannon and has strong 2yo form and disappointed in his 3yo form. The most eye-catching thing is that the handicapper has dropped him 6lbs for his last run, which is a little way below his last winning mark. At 33/1, he could be a huge price.
Jumps Nap is Topolski, Overall is Photo Oppurtunity
Good Luck
Good afternoon Will,
ReplyDeleteFine start with Topolski, presumably named after the rowing coach?
Thanks for reminding this old git that time is passing quickly (wait until you get to my age) and the flat season is almost upon us. As you know, at this time of year I know as much about the forthcoming Flat season as Robbie Savage does about modesty or Andy Townsend does about Irish culture.
Fremont sounds interesting to me so I might check him out.
At the risk of sounding like a parent (heaven forbid)I think a bit of "proof reading" might be useful before you post. I know you're always keen to get back to your studies but for the sake of a couple of minutes checking ........
Good luck
