Back after a long break, with some brilliant racing in that time, a brilliant ride by Frankie Dettori yesterday on board Blue Bunting in the Irish Oaks, biding his time to deliver as late as possible. Also, one of my bigger selections of the weekend slaughtered his rivals in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen, Qulinton, who is now heading for the Galway Plate.
Today is a tricky day, here is my 2-a-meeting: Berbice (3.00 Ayr) 3RD 17/2, Jewelled Dagger (3.30 Ayr) 4TH, Giant's Quest (5.50 Ballinrobe) WON 5/6F, Leah Claire (8.50 Ballinrobe) 3RD, Queen's Choice (7.30 Beverley) UNPLACED, Salient (8.00 Beverley) 3RD, Urban Kode (6.10 Windsor) 2ND, Pegasus Again (8.40 Windsor) 2ND 6/1, Thundering Home (4.45 Yarmouth) WON 9/4F and Far Flung (5.15 Yarmouth) UNPLACED
Berbice should run well but is unreliable a times, Jewelled Dagger won easily on stable debut last time and is still on a good mark, Giant's Quest is in good form under National Hunt rules and makes maiden debut under Pat Smullen, Leah Claire is in good form on the Flat and his latest Hurdles performance behind Bagber should be good enough.
Queen's Choice makes its handicap debut and is potentially progressive for Annabel King and Salient is in great form in a weak race. The two at Windsor look very solid selections and George Baker's Thundering Home should go very close at Yarmouth, as should Far Flung.
ADVISED BETS:
Jewelled Dagger 2pts WIN (3.30 Ayr) 4TH
Giant's Quest (WON 5/6F) and Leah Claire (3RD) 1pt WIN Each + 1 pt Double (5.50 Ballinrobe + 8.50 Ballinrobe)
Salient 2pts WIN (8.00 Beverley) 3RD
Pegasus Again 2pts E/W (8.40 Windsor) 2ND 6/1
Thundering Home 1pts WIN (4.45 Yarmouth) WON 9/4F
